Dr. Lauren Carmichael is the daughter of a career Navy man. She was born in Rota, Spain and from there has lived in Florida, Virginia, Hawaii, California, and Kansas! She considers Kansas City, Kansas “home”, as she lived there the longest. Dr. Carmichael started her undergraduate career at Baylor University and later transferred to Kansas State University, where she would complete her undergraduate degree in just 3 years and was then accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State. She would graduate Summa Cum Laude with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State in 2009. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and surgery at Purdue University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After completing her internship, she moved to Fort Worth and began work as an overnight emergency veterinarian. She continued to work as an ER Veterinarian until purchasing Dr. Doolittle’s Animal Hospital, now named Highland Pointe Animal Hospital, in January of 2015. Dr. Carmichael has a special interest in Cardiology, CATS, and has experience working with exotics. When not at the hospital, she enjoys running and spending time with her husband Dr. Chris Carmichael, their daughter Avery, and their kitty Jackson.
